The representative of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Rep. Babajimi Adegoke Benson, has reiterated that he will continue to attract further developments, expand opportunities and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to his people.
Hon. Benson reiterated his pledges in a statement titled, “Nigeria At 66: Our Hope, Our Duty, Our Future,” commemorating the 66th Independence Day of Nigeria.
”My dear people of Ikorodu Federal Constituency, fellow Lagosians and Nigerians. Today, we celebrate 66 years of our Independence – 66 years of a nation that has faced challenges, overcome setbacks and continued to rise with courage, resilience and an unbreakable faith in its future.

”For us in Ikorodu, the heartbeat of Lagos, this celebration is a reminder that our contribution to Nigeria’s greatness must remain deliberate and relentless. From our communities to the economic and cultural strength of Lagos, Ikorodu will continue to play its part in building a greater Nigeria.”
”My promise remains unchanged: I will continue to work tirelessly to attract development, expand opportunities and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to every part of our constituency.”
Rep. Benson who is the Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Defence, also urged Nigerians to reflect on the need to preserve democracy.

”Our democratic journey has come a long way. Since 1999, we have sustained an unbroken democratic order, and our responsibility now is not merely to preserve democracy, but to make it deliver security, opportunity, dignity and prosperity for our people.”
”It is in this light that the Renewed Hope Agenda has embarked on significant reforms in economic management, infrastructure, social investment and democratic institutions. The signing of the amended Electoral Act in 2026 is also part of the ongoing effort to strengthen our electoral framework.”
”Therefore, as we approach 2027, let us remain vigilant, engaged and committed to the democratic process. Let us examine the records, policies and programmes before us, especially as embarked upon by this administration, and make choices that advance the interests of Nigeria, Lagos and our communities.”

He added:
”From Ikorodu to Lagos, from Lagos to Nigeria – our story is still being written. And together, we will write a better one.
One Nigeria. One Lagos. One Ikorodu. Together, We Build. Together, We Rise.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria!”
